Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone. The snow last night was great for the garden. Now I hope we have a slow thaw so some of the water can soak into the ground.
The classes are about half full. Register soon if you are planning on being in one of the classes.
Mighty Mites Mondays are half full, only 8 spots remain.
Mighty Mites Wednesdays only have 10 spots left.
Seed Sowers is over half full, only 10 spots remain.
Garden Chefs have 16 spots left.
Hi, Hopefully this lands in the right hands. We are trying to figure out whether to put Alex in Seed Sowers another year (this would be his third) or to put him in Garden Chefs. We’re not very clear on the difference between the two and what would be the best fit for him. Can you help guide us in this decision? Thanks!

Hi Kate,
It will really be up to you and Alex. I know that most of the kids who were in Seed Sowers last year are going to be in the class again, so he would know more people in that class. The main difference in the two classes this year is the focus. Seed Sowers is still going to make snacks, but the emphasis is on plant/life science topics.
In Garden Chefs, we really focus on the cooking and most of the class is spent either taking care of the garden or cooking in the kitchen. Alex would probably be one of the youngest kids in the class. Since he has been in the program for a few years, he would be fine in knowing what to do. Garden Chefs the recipes are made as a class in groups. Where as in Seed Sowers, the recipes are broken down into steps that each individual does.
I really think it is up to you. This would probably be the last year Alex could be in Seed Sowers so if he wants to do science and snack it will be his last opportunity. If he wants to really focus on cooking, Garden Chefs would be the best.
Does that help with the decision? Let me know if you have any other questions.
